Correctional win netball league derby
MBABANE – Correctional Services Netball team proved too good for Royal Eswatini Police Service (REPS) in the final game of the SBS Netball League first round yesterday.
The security forces teams entered the final game battling for pole position at a packed OlympAfrica tennis courts. REPS were first to attack, as Goal Attacker (GA) Bathabile Nkambule hit the bucket rim, after fast attacking play; the ball was cleared by Correctional Goal Keeper (GK) Phindile Khatwane. REPS eventually broke the deadlock, through Goal Scorer (GS) Vuyisile Thusi.
The Correctional Services side responded with quick play as they put short passes together that their counterparts are known to be deadly with and they scored two fast goals, to make the score 2-1.
The first quarter finished with the Mavi Ndlangamandla-led side leading 10-8. REPS tried to reduce the deficit at the start of the second quarter, as they drew first blood. This quarter finished 25-14 in favour of Correctional.

“I am happy about the performance of my players considering that we couldn’t train as we were busy with the preparations of the Police Day. The result showed that my players are fighters and had we trained well we would be talking a different story.”
“Let me first congratulate REPS as they gave us a good game today. My players played according to my plan, which was to close them down to limit their usual short passes. This worked well as they became frustrated and resorted to rough play and that is when we attacked them.”
