- BY MACHAWE FAKUDZE

MBABANE – “We only did medical checks for our players.”

This was revealed by Young Buffaloes Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Sandile Gwebu on national radio, the Eswatini Broadcasting and Information Services (EBIS 1) Sports Show on the issue that Mbabane Highlanders striker Sabelo ‘Sikhali’ Ndzinisa did a medical checkup with the army side.

It is no secret that the 2021/22 MTN Premier League Player of the Season is on the wish list of a number of local elite league teams, including the army side and league champions Royal Leopard.

The seasoned football administrator said as Young Buffaloes, they respected all stakeholders involved in football, so he said as a team they could not poach another team’s player without following the relevant procedures.

“We have channels that we follow when we want a certain player as a team; we don’t take the owner of the player by surprise. We don’t even allow a player to train with us without engaging the player’s team,” Gwebu said.

He said they did medical checkups for Young Buffaloes registered players in preparations for the coming 2022/23 season. Gwebu, however, did not hide the fact that they wanted the goal poacher, but they had not made a bid.

Intentions

“There is no team that does not want ‘Sikhali’, but we have not yet made our intentions. It’s a fact that everyone wants the player after playing well in the past season,” he said.

Meanwhile, Mbabane Highlanders Public Relations Officer (PRO) Mandla Madonsela said the player, alongside those who were in the national team Sihlangu, were expected at training yesterday. This was after he was asked about whether Ndzinisa was back at training with the capital giants.
