3 players for Southampton Academy
MBABANE – Three George Quality Academy (GQS) players are off to the United Kingdom to continue with their football development.
This was confirmed by GQS Academy Director George Kawa yesterday.
“GQS is happy about this opportunity, as it will help further their academic and football development,” said Kawa.
The players were identified as Thomas Morgan, Thembinkosi Taleka Loga and Jonathan Makmot.
They will arrive at Bracknell Town International Academy on Wednesday, August 17 to begin training.
They will also get the chance to train with Southampton FC Academy and Fox Football Academy.
“At George Quality Soccer Academy, we strive to help young players blend both academic and football activities. We partnered with Fox Academy, Bracknell Town International Football Academy, FC Malaga in Spain and several football academies in Europe, so that we can create the platform for our players to make it easier for them to showcase their talents to the outside world,” he said.
He also highlighted that GQS was working on getting players or athletes into colleges/universities in the United States of America (USA), UK and
Canada on scholarship basis.
He said players joined the academy when they were aged 10.
“We are very much excited for this development as our dream is to try and help every young player in Eswatini. We wish them all the best of luck,” he said.
This is not the first time the academy is opening doors for young footballers.
They have in the past years managed to send abroad, Neo Van de Loo, Sachin de Silva, Geremi Bamwine and Ethan Abrahams. Eniola Smith is with Fox Academy FC while Sachin De Silva is with Malaga FC Academy in Spain.
