Dialogue could be answer - MSF

-

MBABANE – Chairman of the Multi-Stakeholder Forum (MSF) Thulani Maseko says his organisation believes that the dialogue could be the answer to the violence.

Maseko was responding to questions on the fact that taxpayers were now expected to foot the bill of renovating and rebuilding tinkhundla centres around the country that were burnt down by unknown arsonists.

“We said it time and time again that violence was not the solution to the political crisis we are facing as a nation. We need to focus on the root cause of the problem and those in the echelons of power must stop denying it. Yes, property has been destroyed but this can never be compared to the continued loss of life. Life can never be replaced.

“The one and only guaranteed solution is for the King and government to accept the need and reality to sit around the table of dialogue and talk about the democratic future of our country. There can no longer be any doubt that State violence on unarmed and innocent civilians has led to the situation of violence that we find ourselves in as a people,” he said.

Maseko stated that there was no point in lamenting and pointing fingers, but there was a need for proper engagement through a dialogue.

He said MSF had no hesitation that for as long as the frustrating the dialogue and negotiation process was still on going, a fertile ground for further violence as being created. He said it was not good to destroy the tinkhundla structures but it was a result of a political crisis that had been brewing for the last five decades.
