King Mswati III is the voice of justice – Minister Wu

-

TTAIWAN – Republic of China (Taiwan) Foreign Minister Dr Joseph Wu has described His Majesty King Mswati III as the voice of justice.

Minister Wu said they had been encouraged by the Kingdom of Eswatini and His Majesty the King to stand up against the injustice and threats from Mainland China in August immediately after the visit of United States of America Speaker Nancy Pelosi.

Mainland China launched military exercises in the Taiwan straits which lasted for three days, from August 4-7, 2022, and involved livefire drills, air sorties, naval deployments, and ballistic missile launches by the People’s Liberation Army (PLA).

Speaking last night when hosting a dinner for the King at the Sheraton Hotel in Taipei, Dr Wu said the position of the kingdom had encouraged them and demonstrated that the relationship between the two countries can grow from strength to strength.

“We are very grateful that Eswatini continues to speak for us as a voice of justice. Over the years, Eswatini has continued to plead for Taiwan’s international participation as in September Your Majesty voiced support for Taiwan’s participation at the United Nations General Assembly. Beyond that, Eswatini has strongly advocated for our inclusion in international organisations and raised the awareness of our contribution in various specialised fields where you believe we can assist,” the minister said in appreciation.

Dr Wu said the King alone had demonstrated that Taiwan is not alone in trying to achieve the goals they aspire to.

“Taiwan and

Eswatini have always supported one another. During the COVID-19 pandemic, Taiwan was quick to pledge financial support for the kingdom and further contributed to the Reconstruction Fund as we are each others partners Your Majesty.

“Let me assure you that Taiwan will continue to work closely with the Kingdom of Eswatini to bolster the will of both the peoples of our countries,” he said.

His Majesty the King appreciated Dr Wu’s remarks, who said both countries’ relationship can only grow from strength to strength.

The dinner was also attended by the Export-Import Bank of the Republic of China President Eric Teng-Shan Tai, who was also seen having extensive engagements with Finance Minister Neal Rijkenberg.

The King’s engagements continue even today.
