According to Detective Sergeant Petros Mpilo Mayaba, only the relatives of Maseko came and identified him as their own in the past week after this publicatio­n ran the story of the deceased.

“The deceased’s mother came at the police station at Hartebeesk­orp and we took her to the mortuary where we keep corpses of unknown persons, but unfortunat­ely she had no funds to cater for its transporta­tion,” confirmed the SA police.

He further disclosed that the mother of Maseko returned to Eswatini and promised to come back and fetch the body after raising the funds.

On the matter of Sakhile Malinga, Mayaba disclosed that in the event his relatives did not come through for his body then by Friday (yesterday) they would begin the processes of applying for a pauper’s funeral with the municipal authoritie­s of Ermelo.
