K– The community of KaNcesi, outside Pigg’s Peak, is feeling haunted by the ‘supernatural’.

This follows last year’s discovery of four corpses in a house.

The cause of death for the four has still not been determined, though preliminary investigations, after the grisly discovery, were to the effect that they died of poisoning.

Neighbours, who asked to remain anonymous, said there had been mysterious incidents associated with the home this year. This, they said, involved sightings of mysterious human-like figures and mystery fire spark-like light at night.

The head of the family, David Hleta (55), has stayed away from the house since the funeral that was marred by family disagreements last year.

Peak about 30 kilometres from the home, said some neighbours called him and reported the issue of what he called ‘ghosts’ at his home.

“They said this in the form of a complaint, that a resident who was riding a bicycle was pushed by what they said was a ghost and got injured. Other people who were walking next to the gate also claim that they were terrorised and chased away by some he said.

Hleta said others had informed him that there were usually unexplained human-like dark figures moving up and down in the home and this was scarring the neighbours.

Assist

spirits,”

“I decided to ask a Zionist priest to assist me with a prayer service at the homestead. We did this, recently, hoping that the spirits will not come back again,” he said.

Asked if he still had no closure on the cause of death of his family members, he said he had not received any word from the Royal Eswatini Police Service (REPS).

Hleta, who works in the pulp production industry, was not home when his family members died.

Acting Indvuna at the royal kraal, Bhejisa Mnisi said he was aware that Hleta had been away from home for too long, but said he needed to have a word with him before he could say anything.

Decision

“The community has not taken any decision on what to do with the homestead, pending a meeting with Hleta. We heard that he was involved in an accident. Perhaps he is still nursing his injuries,” he said.

Mnisi also declined to comment on the issue of the alleged supernatural events , stating it had not been reported to him.

The deceased family members were identified as Hleta’s wife Winile Matsebula (47), Nolwazi Dlamini (31), Nicholas Phiri (12) and Hope (4). All four were related. Matsebula is Nolwazi’s mother while the minors are siblings. They are Nolwazi’s children.

The death of the quartet left the community with many unanswered questions, with some alleging that they died due to an unknown illness because of their extreme religious beliefs, while others were of the view that it was a suicide incident or
