M- Consular Attaché Olivia Mate has called upon all Mozambican nationals living in Eswatini to register for a newly-established provident fund scheme.

Mate, during a press conference at the Embassy in Mbabane, disclosed that this social security scheme was established mainly for funeral covers and retirement packages. According to the consular attaché, this was after numerous reports grew of Mozambican nationals who were desperate after the death of their relatives and also when they reached the retirement age.

“There is a team that is already in Eswatini with a mandate to register all

Mozambican nationals, whether working or hustling in all the regions of the country of Eswatini,” Mate said. Meanwhile, Mate said they were expecting a large number to register as she said there were more than 10 000 Mozambican nationals in the country.

“There are agents who are already registering in all the regions and I would like to invite all the nationals of the republic to come either with birth certificates, passports or any identification cards that clearly specify that they were of the origin of Mozambique,” explained the consular attaché.

Sebastiao Zitha, who is the Coordinator of the Desta Equipa De Trabaldo entity that is responsible for the establishment and the running of the scheme, said there were over 200 Mozambican nationals who had already registered since the exercise began on October 9 this year.

“All Mozambican nationals must consider registering and becoming members of this fund so that when days are dark, they will know where to run too. Whether they are working or are self-employed, they are all eligible to pay their contributions. A contribution of a sum of E105 is required for everyone to stand to benefit in the event your relatives or yourselves pass on from this world,” said Zitha. He encouraged all Mozambican nationals to make use of the embassy even when the registration exercise is over so that they are not left out from this amazing opportunity.
