EDITOR’S CORNER!

- ... WITH PHUMZILE NDLOVU

Wa sad time in politics, the sacking of Johannesburg Mayor Mpho Phalatse recently by the Speaker of Parliament, so soon after I featured her as one of the women I look up to.

Not only because of her eloquence, style and grace but because she’s actually a medical doctor too. I love women who are not just beautiful, but intelligent too, I respect and look up to them. Fast forward to her reinstatement early in the week much to my excitement, I was all always rooting for her.

The biggest let down, however, was the resignation of United Kingdom (UK) Liz Strauss after 42 days in office. I haven’t really heard all her strong reasons for resigning; I was just too disappointed that she left.

Yes I get it, it was a hot seat, but to resign, just quit, I’m just too disappointed. I don’t know what made her leave, but women have the most fighting spirit in them, I guess it must have been really way beyond her control, one thing that’s certain about giving up is that it’s guaranteed that it will never happen again as you have thrown in the towel, but ok, so long Liz.

I was hoping she was going to go the long mile like Margaret Thatcher, but hey what do I know about politics.

Back home, I was sad to learn of the passing of the senior royal Prince Masitsela. What a charming ‘young’ man he was. I had the honour of interviewing him once at his home when I was assigned to compile the Independence Supplement back in 2014.

It was the sea of knowledge he had in him that was intriguing for me, his charm and sense of humour were out of this world, and of course, he tried his luck as well with me, we laughed about it, it to was such a privilege have a seat down with him, may he rest in peace.

My team and I are still figuring how to handle this influx of events coming in thick and fast. This week alone we have 10 assignments to choose from, the big one being Uncle Waffles which was yesterday, and we expected an electric performance.

I see why she has made it globally; I was really impressed with my two left feet as I danced the morning away literally. Her team definently picked great supporting acts as wow, I had so much fun, bravo young lady may you fly higher, go and represent us globally we are truly proud of such talent.

And of course today the much anticipated Mafikizolo performance among other acts, like DJ Tira, Dumi Mkokstad and many more.

It’s safe to say it’s a choose may’khethela weekend as everyone is catered for, what with tomorrow with the Gospel legends ascending in Manzini. Namely Colleen Maluluke, Ayanda Ntanzi, Takie Ndou and our very own Linda Dlamini, it’s certainly going to be a walk with God there I can only imagine.

Now back to this week we spoke to the young talented Lyrikal Busta about his career which just took off with the hit single KaKhoza that has been trending. We also asked Christian Maz about her five favorite things.

We never forget the little ones on page seven hand them their page to enjoy, while you read the rest of this week’s edition.

Remember; the hardest walk is walking alone, but it’s also the walk that makes you the strongest.

Have a blessed week.
