Banned fan snubs ‘Weslian’ for Buffs

-

MBABANE - Manzini Wanderers banned top fan Mzwandile Msibi is hurting that he was not afforded an opportunity by the team’s National Supporters Committee (NSC). Banned for the rest of the season from watching Wanderers’ games after he invaded the technical area during their 1-3 defeat to Mbabane Highlanders last Sunday, in the inaugural MoMo Cup 2022 play-offs semifinals, Msibi has since snubbed them for Young Buffaloes. The latter, he said, was his second favourite team of choice in the domestic game. The MoMo Cup was played at Mavuso Sports Centre in Manzini.

PAIN

“My heart is still heavy that I learnt of the news from social media and newspapers without being called to appear before the disciplinary committee. I just acted out of the pain of seeing my favourite team losing because of some few technical mistakes. Now I understand the seriousness of my behaviour and if they had called me, I would have apologised but I wasn’t given a chance. I don’t see myself returning even after the ban as I’m now with Buffaloes,” Msibi said.

Meanwhile, Wanderers NSC Chairman, Colo Samketi Dlamini said they had never denied Msibi a chance to explain his side of the story. Dlamini said since the incidence, the fan had not sought an audience with them.

“We still love Msibi. He is the brand of the team and we can still dialogue with him if he makes up his mind and shows that he is sorry for his deeds. It is only his acts that spoil the hearts of the supporters as it incurs costs for the team,” Dlamini said.

His club went on to lose 0-2 to Highlanders again on Wednesday evening in an MTN Premier League match played at Somhlolo National Stadium.
