- BY TIMES REPORTER

NHLANGANO – People of KaDlovunga were pleased to see their chief officially unveiled to them after close to 20 years without one.

The traditional ceremony was held at KaDlovunga Chiefdom in the Shiselweni Region on Saturday and was witnessed by hundreds of residents.

Also present during the event was Nkhosilenhle Masuku, who was sent to represent bakaNgwane and Mduduzi ‘Small Joe’ Dlamini, in his capacity as Maseyisini Member of Parliament (MP), which includes KaDlovunga Chiefdom.

Umntfwanenkhosi Ndoda Dlamini presented Chief Sifiso Dlamini, who assumed the name Umntfwanenkhosi Makhahleleka II, to the people.

He stated that the chief was officially presented to Their Majesties and they blessed him.

Challenges

He said they did not have challenges in unveiling the new chief as everything went smoothly.

He spoke to the chief’s peers and friends to stop calling him by his ‘street names’ but address him in accordance with his status from now going forward.

The chief’s surviving aunt pleaded with bantfwabenkhosi to groom the chief as he was young. Chief Malambule Mdluli advised the new chief to love and care for his subjects. He advised that the challenges faced by the people of the chiefdom would make a strong man out of him.

He further stated that he needed to have a council that was true and corrupt free for the peace of the people in his chiefdom.

“On another note, there is not future in alcohol (kute live lelakhiwa tjwala),”he said.

Mdlulu said it was hard to install a chief but it would be easy to kill him, especially if he imbibed alcohol as it was easy to spike or poison him.

He further said there would be no country if he allowed drinking places and bars on Swazi Nation Land.

Mdlulu advised the chief to build the community, not destroy it.

Umntfwanenkhosi Makhahleleka II, when addressing the people, stated that he was willing to act as a father to the people of the chiefdom and appreciated the prayers of the people which made the day a success.

He further said he would be guided by the elders where he did not know what to do.

“This is your chiefdom, whether rich or poor, as we are practising the open door policy,” he said.

The chief stated that anyone and everyone who had ideas on how the chiefdom could be developed was more than welcome to present the ideas.

Chief Makhahleleka II condemned the act of destroying the chiefdom as he said they would be left with no other structure. The event ended on a high note as community members took time to greet the new chief.

Interviewed residents stated that they were excited about the installation of the chief as the chiefdom was behind in as far as development was concerned. They stated that they were hoping for progress in other areas as they had always been told that somethings would not be done without a chief.

Gcebile Dlamini said she was happy that they finally had a chief and appreciated Their Majesties for blessing him.

Mkhulu Ndaba Maziya, on the other hand, stated that now that the chiefdom had a head, everything would fall into place.
