It was a Cheered short-lived

Former Denver Sundowns’ Public Relations Officer (PRO) Thabiso Manyatsi has jumped Tambankulu Callies’ ship three months after being named brand manager.

Manyatsi was unveiled as Callies’ Brand Manager at the end of last season but due to personal reasons, he left before putting his marketing skills to work.

According to Callies’ PRO, who has since been elevated to the position of Chief Executive Officer (CEO), Mnotfo Dlamini, Manyatsi was expected to start working with the marketing team at the beginning of the 2022/2023 season, but decided to leave before getting down to business.

“Thabiso has left, three months after joining Callies. He cited work commitments as reasons for leaving the club but we couldn’t sit back and relax so we had to replace him with Mlungisi Mamba who is now leading the marketing team to generate revenue for the club through the sale of our replicas and other merchandise,” Dlamini said.

Manyatsi was spotted on Sunday at Somhlolo National Stadium where he cheered on his former home team, Denver Sundowns play against Mbabane Highlanders.

Both sides took home a point each after a goalless draw.

On the same day, Callies held Manzini Sea Birds to a 2-2 draw at the King Sobhuza II Memorial Stadium in Nhlangano. Manyatsi disputed suspicions of reattaching to Sundowns and declined to reveal his future endeavors in the football space.

“I can’t reveal where I’m going yet but still in talks with one team in particular. I can’t say I am going back to Sundowns but leaving Callies was based on personal reasons and it was a mutual agreement between me and Callies Director Sithembiso ‘Ngudze’ Mamba,” Manyatsi said.

Meanwhile, Callies’ managed to raise E40 000 from the sale of their replicas last season, retailing at E400 a piece. The club’s CEO encouraged Callies’ fans to continue supporting the sale of the club’s replicas and other branded merchandise in order to help generate funds for the purpose of sustaining the team.
