Arsonists, assassins profiled for INTERPOL

- TIMES REPORTERS

MBABANE – The police are compiling profiles of assassins and arsonists, which will be presented to the International Police (INTERPOL), in the form of ‘Red Notice’.

The assassins are said to be behind the killing of law enforcers while the arsonists are reportedly responsible for the carnage caused on public and private infrastructure.

A questionnaire was sent to the Deputy Police Information and Communications Officer, Inspector Nosipho Mnguni, seeking to establish if the country had presented names of the people purportedly behind the killings and arson attacks to the INTERPOL.

This questionnaire emanated from submissions made by the Prime Minister (PM), Cleopas Sipho Dlamini, who is also the Minister of Police. Last Wednesday, Dlamini informed parliamentarians that government was engaging INTERPOL in a bid to bring to book the perpetrators of violence.

Perpetrators

The PM noted that the perpetrators of the aforementioned crimes, immediately after completing any form of attack, be it arson or murder, escaped the country to neighbouring countries.

In response to the questionnaire, Mnguni said the police were still gathering information, which would be concrete, in their pursuit to bring to book those who were responsible for the said crimes.

She said: “At this stage, we are investigating so that we submit a complete report to INTERPOL, which will have facts and supporting evidence.”

Mnguni said once this was complete, they would flight a red notice with INTERPOL.

A red notice is a request to law enforcement worldwide to locate and provisionally arrest a person pending extradition, surrender, or similar legal action.

Meanwhile, the submission by the premier in Senate was in response to a motion moved by Senator Mkhululi Dlamini, which required that he (PM) be given seven days to tell the nation what government was doing to address the volatile situation in the country.
