“You must recall that when we did not have a head teacher, it was difficult to run the school because she is responsible for signing important documents and also authorising purchases,” the parent said.

Parents said they had not been given information on the head teacher’s employment background, especially the school she was transferred from.

Hhelehhele Indvuna Prophet Sibandze, who represented the umphakatsi also said he had not been informed about the head teacher’s previous school.

“I asked her to tell me the schools in which she worked before but she did not,” said Sibandze.

While others were of the view that she should be dismissed immediately and her duties transferred to a senior teacher.

The REO, however, warned that such could have legal implications.

The head teacher was asked if she wanted to comment on any of the allegations and comments made against her by the parents but she declined to speak. Some parents asked that she be given a chance to speak at the meeting but the REO said she had to protect her following the submissions made.

LaNgwenya and her team also met the head teacher in private before they left the school.

The REO is expected to report back to the parents after speaking to the school administration.

She said she would also make her recommendations to the school’s manager.
