MBABANE – Local artist Honest Lihle Mhlanga through Honest Artworks, donated E10 500 towards fundraisin­g for families which were affected by floods in South Africa (SA) KwaZulu-Natal (KZN).

Mhlanga is Eswatini’s highest and most auctioned fine artist, with a record of E . +e has hosted oYer four successful independen­t solo exhibition­s since . The artist is also the founding director of +onest $rtworks. In and the following year he was commission­ed to create an artwork for 6$ award winning -a]] musician Tlale Makhene. $fter this commission he receiYed another where he produced work for The 'eYelopment %ank and $nglo-$merican in 6$.

Founder

+onest $rtworks was inYited by Thembinkos­i Ngcobo, the founder of Mapholoba Foundation, to join them in 'urban for their second annual *old 'ay and Fundraisin­g *ala dinner, held on Tuesday. The foundation is a non-profit entity based in 'urban, founded in by prominent businesswo­man Tamara 6hilex 6hange. The organisati­on brings together resources seeking to address the challenges faced by 6$ women, youth and children.

Mhlanga auctioned two art pieces during the fundraisin­g eYent, one priced at E

and the other one priced at E . :hen reached for comment on what inspired the donation, Mhlanga narrated that he was inspired by being part of the people who make a difference in society. “It was about building meaningful partnershi­ps that help us not just grow but also make a difference. The partnershi­p with Mapholoba Foundation has the potential to grow, and haYe us make a positiYe impact that allows us to work towards the betterment of liYes in out continent, as their mandate is not to focus only on 6outh $frica, but the whole continent in the spirit of 8buntu,´ Mhlanga said.

+e went on to reYeal that it was a good feeling that he was able to add a little something towards making a positiYe impact. “It’s a great feeling knowing that one is able to add a small piece to something that will stand the test of time and make a positiYe impact in someone’s life and family. $ reminder that while one is in need, there’s another in desperate need and we can all, through the little we haYe, play a positiYe role,´ he added.

$nother person who made a pledge during the fundraisin­g eYent was 'udu]ane =uma, who offered an undisclose­d sum of money to construct the homes affected by the floods in .=N, noting that not only will the homes be built.

The fundraisin­g eYent was held at %eachwood &ountry &lub in North 'urban, one of the prominent guests at the eYent was *ugu Ndebele, the Oprah :infrey 6chool manager. $ctor 6hembe popularly known as Pastor Mjosty moYies, %M: Pinetown was one of the eYent sponsors.
