Pigg’s Peak interim mayor, deputy sworn in

PPEAK – Businessman, Absalom Ndlovu is the interim mayor of Pigg’s Peak.
He will be assisted by appointed Councillor Sithembile Ngcamphalala who was sworn in as his deputy.
Ndlovu takes over from former mayor Victor Rodrigues who is also a businessman. Ndlovu was sworn in as the mayor before Pigg’s Peak Station Commander Dumisane Nzalo, Londiwe Simelane who is the Town Engineer and Ngcamphalala. Simelane was representing the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Mzwandile Ndzinisa.
Rodrigues, whose term ended alongside other councilors namely, Victor Masango, Sizwe Themba, Sibongile Magagula, Tsepiso Mthimkhulu and Mndeni Gomorah Simelane.
In his speech, Ndlovu thanked the minister for the opportunity he had been given to serve the residents of Pigg’s Peak. He stated that the operations of the town council was guided by a five-year strategic plan. He said it was for this reason that there was a need for an interim committee, that would ensure the ongoing strategic plan projects were delivered.

Ndlovu said the projects included the installation of high mast lights around Mangwaneni with a completion contract price of E960 000. He added that another was the construction of a road leading to the Pigg’s Peak Hospital Nurses’ Home and also Pigg’s Peak Central High School.

Ndlovu revealed that to date, the engineering designs had been completed. He said construction companies were invited to tender for the project.
Also, he said the third project was the purchase of seven additional waste skips at a cost of E604 000. “We are awaiting for the delivery of these,” he stated.
He added that there was an ongoing implementation of a quality management system to ensure that the needs of stakeholders were met. “Finally, we will engage with the ratepayer’s association, our valued stakeholder, to improve working relations so that we can improve service delivery,” said the interim mayor.
