M- The delay in acquiring motor vehicle parts is partly to blame.

Mandla Dlamini who is the Spokesperson for the Eswatini National Fire and Emergency Service (ENFES) stated that he was aware of the challenges with the vehicles. He said the ambulance had been fixed so far. Dlamini stated that the other vehicles which had developed mechanical faults were being attended to. He said the delay was that it was a long procedure to reach the supplier of the parts. He, however, insisted that the matter was being resolved.

used to manoeuvre the terrain was the faulty one. “As it is raining now, we are not able to reach certain areas because there is no way the larger vehicle can access the harsh terrain,” they said.

Clifford Mamba, the Principal Secretary (PS) in the Ministry of Housing and Urban Development conceded that there was shortage of trucks. However, he said the problem was the same throughout the country.

Mamba said the challenge was funds to get the equipment but that at the same time, they often became damaged due to continous use. He said every year, the ministry planned to buy new trucks but that they were usually not enough.
