EDITOR’S CORNER!

- ... WITH MXOLISI DLAMINI

Vwe welcome a new weekend, this is something I have learnt. It’s not easy to correct something or someone, especially when that thing or someone doesn’t want to be corrected.

However we keep trying to do what we belive in without formally accepting that some things just cannot be done. Wait! Let’s not spend time getting into my personal feelings over what happened to me during the week, but rather focus on the goodies I have for you in our pull out today, as well as a brief summary of how I went about covering diffrent events last weekend.

Last week was fairly good, I was privileged to attend a local Gospel artist’s live recording, at a Alliance Church. It was a roller coaster week, full of energetic and productive people that I came across. I went to a fundraising Gospel event in Manzini, where I witnessed some of the work that saints do to better the lives of others.

This event was interrupted by the heavy rainfall which has been pouring over the past few days. It was my first time witnessing a performance of a big Gospel artist, watched by a low number of fans. Besides the numbers, I almost froze due to the cold, as I was not dressed warm enough.

This past weekend was also an adventurous one, It was the ‘Sete’ weekend, courtesy of South African giant rapper K.O’s visit to the country, in Ezulwini. Wow! It must really feel good to be an artist, fans are one thing that can help me justify this.

When K.O took to the stage, I literally saw over 10 fans crying just for watching him at a distance, singing. One lady actually tried to jump over the barricade, longing to reach out to the artist, just to touch him. He was stopped not even by security but by her friends who may have had their reasons unknown to us for stopping her.

Fans continued to prove that they were blown away by the appearance of K.O, as they flooded his car just after his performance. Meanwhile I was stressed, since I was determined to get an interview from the artist, but the stampede situation almost denied me the opportunity.

I had to improvise and be clever about it, as I pushed my way around the fans and made it to the car door showing the artist’s business partner my press card, just so I could be heard. He was reluctant to hear me out but I managed to convince him.

He took my cellphone and told me I will only get a brief comment as opposed to an interview due to the fans. Honestly I was not impressed, I wanted a full interview but there was nothing I could do. He took my cellphone and got inside K.O’s car and recorded a one- minute audio which I gladly appriciated.

Now let’s jump to the goodies that we have for you today. This week Gcwala had a sit down with internationally renowned model, Snowee. She shared with us her aspirations and life achievements.

Get ready to be blown away by local comedian Mduras five favourite things featured, which will leave you in stitches. We also bring you the highlights of UNESWA Choral, which was held last week at Kwaluseni campus, enjoy our collage of formal outfits showcased during the event.

Lastly from our DJs Corner we have Crash Master, a local DJ from Nhlangano who just got his academic qualification.

Cheers
