‘Sikhali’, ‘Fela’ heat up E100k ‘carrot’ race

- BY MACHAWE FAKUDZE

MBABANE – The ‘Yello’ action was back with week five of the games after they were shifted to make way for the inaugural 2022 MoMo Cup, which was won by rookies Nsingizini Hotspurs a week ago at Somhlolo National Stadium.

These fixtures saw 12 goals scored from the venues across the country, with KaLanga Technical Centre recording two braces.

Still leading the way are Young Buffaloes with 11 points. They are still forced to look over their shoulders by Mbabane Highlanders, who are just a point behind.

A team on top of the charts after round 13 will be E100 000 richer.

Here are the things that we learnt from the games:

DOUBLE BRACE AT KALANGA

The week five fixtures saw two braces scored during the MTN Premier League double-header played at KaLanga Technical Centre on Saturday.

The first brace was scored by Mbabane Swallows on-form striker Felix ‘Fela’ Badenhorst against rookies Seven Dreams. The second brace came via the boot of Green Mamba deadly striker Sabelo ‘Sikhali’ Ndzinisa against table proppers Manzini Wanderers.

STILL NO TECHNICAL AREA SHELTERS

The teams’ technical bench and substitutes are exposed to all sorts of weather conditions at KaLanga Technical Centre as the shelters for them are not yet replaced. They were taken to the Mavuso Sports Centre. On Sunday the coaches had to use umbrellas as the rain was pouring continuously during the MTN Premier League match between Denver Sundowns and Manzini Sea Birds.

KALANGA TOILETS A HEALTH HAZARD

The toilets at KaLanga Technical Centre need special attention as they pose a health hazard to the fans. There is no running water from the taps. The Premier League of Eswatini (PLE) and Eswatini Football Association must do something about the state of the venue as it poses a health hazard to the supporters.

FEMALE TEAM DOCTORS FOR ’DOWNS

Talking of gender empowerment is what Denver Sundowns is doing as the team’s medics department is made up of women only. The two young ladies were seen executing the male-dominated job well. This was during their MTN Premier League match against Manzini Sea Birds on Sunday.

NDABA’S DIFFERENT KIT NUMBERS

Manzini Sea Birds defender Ndumiso ‘Tower’ Ndaba was spotted with different numbers on his playing kit, as the shirt number was 27. His shorts number was 20.
