MBABANE – Eswatini Cue Sports Association (ECSA) has set its sights internationally, while also describing sponsor Dixie’s International as family to the sport.

ECSA President Muntu Dlamini, could only express nothing but praise for the Manzini Regional Pool Association (MRPA) sponsor Dixie’s International, a sports equipment company based in Matsapha, as he also announced they planned a busy schedule next year. This transpired during prize-giving at Mdzimba View in Ezulwini last Saturday.

“Dixie’s has withstood the tough economic times to continue sponsoring the Manzini Regional Pool Association (MRPA) over the years despite trying times. Your sponsorship and continued support has undoubtedly raised the bar in the region, which leads in pool countrywide and also dominate the three national teams we have in place. In fact Manzini is the country’s home of pool,” he said.

Dlamini appealed to Dixie’s International to continue sponsoring the sport and said it was not only for Manzini but the whole country.

“Our games are not cheap as we spend about E5 000 or more for 10 matches and we play far more than that. We are in pool for the passion of the game otherwise it’s expensive to run these teams, so sponsors like Dixie’s are what we need more,” Dlamini explained.

He then told the teams that as ECSA, they celebrated such sponsors, while they had also set up a marketing committee to assist in fundraising for next year’s international events, including the All Africa Pool Championships to be hosted by neighbours South Africa around September.

Dlamini further mentioned that they would do everything possible to also send four national teams including the Under-23s to the Blackball World Championships, billed for England, as well as the Howley Cup in the United States of America (USA).

He concluded by informing Dixie’s International that through their E40 000 sponsorship, the Manzini region was dominant in the national squads.

“We want to also strengthen our national teams to ensure they perform and bring back something from these international competitions,” he said.

He said they went to the All Africa Championships early this year, in Zambia but missed the World Cup in Morocco, where he felt they could have made an impact. Dlamini also made remarks in the Dixie’s International/MRPA prize presentation last Sunday in Ezulwini, Mdzimba View.
