Rev Madudu’s sermon causes a stir

-

LOZITHA – Reverend Madudu Mabuza’s sermon at Mandvulo Grand Hall caused a stir as he preached about a biblical figure, Achan, found in the book of Joshua.

Achan was a warrior who betrayed Joshua and the nation of Israel by taking spoils in the Jericho war when God had instructed them not to take anything.

Mabuza said the country was facing the current issues because some of the people close to His Majesty King Mswati III had betrayed him and the nation. The scripture referenced from the charismatic reverend received wide cheers from the congregants.

He further made reference to a scripture in Proverbs 20, where he illustrated that if the nation and those close to the King make him angry, the country faces doom. He said when the King smiled the nation received blessing from God.

Mabuza even provoked a smile from His Majesty as he preached. He further challenged the King and said God was waiting for him to make a call.

“Your Majesty, it took King Hezekiah to make an individual decision, not one influenced by his advisors, family or friends. He took the letter which Sennacherib had written to intimidate him and instil fear to the pulpit in the house of the Lord. He told God that the enemy had written a direct letter to Him and God decided to do something about it. Your Majesty, maybe it is time you personally take up this matter with God. He is waiting for you and only you can challenge Him to assist the nation. God respects kings; He is not like the people who speak anyhow to the King, He appreciates and loves kings and each time a king comes to Him, He stops and listens,” said Mabuza.

He encouraged the King and the nation to trust God in times of trials. The theme for this year’s service was found in Exodus 15 verse 1 which says: “Then Moses and the Israelites sang this song to the Lord; I will sing to the Lord, for he is gloriously triumphant; horse and chariot he has cast into the sea.”

Other preachers who shared the Word of God included Reverend Nhlanhla Hlatshwayo, Pastor T. Dlamini, Make Mabuza and Pastor Magongo.

One of the most talked about sermon from the service was titled ‘Nothing will stand on the way of the way’, preached by Dlamini. He said the nation should know that God was on the side of the country and whatever plan He had about the Kingdom of Eswatini was going to be fulfilled.

The royal household, government officials, Cabinet and Members of Parliament attended the service which lasted for almost four hours and was broadcasted live by the national broadcaster, Eswatini TV.
