the money, resulting in the reporter reminding him.

The legislator later indicated that he did not have enough money in his Mobile Money account.

“I only have E100 in my Mobile Money account.

“Let me send it and she will see how far it takes her,” the MP said before sending the money with the withdrawal fee.

When this reporter took interest in the relationship between the MP and the woman, she revealed that she had never come face to face with the MP.

“I got his cellphone number from someone and he has been consistent in helping me.Avoiding

He used to give me up to E700,” she said before avoiding further questions.

When this reporter called MP Mndzebele, he said helping the needy had been his trait even before being elected an MP to replace the late Minister of Public Service Christian Ntshangase who died of COVID-19.

“It is not because I have money, but I take that if someone comes to me seeking help I have to assist where possible. I have been offering financial assistance to anyone asking for help in my area.

“At times, I wish I can refuse but I am left with no option if I consider the request, especially if a person calls me persistently.

“It is sad to see a person in trouble after refusing to help them,” he said.

The legislator said after he was flooded with requests for help, he suspected his number was shared to people outside his constituency by those who knew about his generosity.

Discovered

“Of late I have discovered some people call from other constituencies, seeking financial assistance.

“I am stressed about this because I do not know how the people got my cellphone number.

“I do not know how I can get out of this,” said Mndzebele, before sharing that he received about 20 calls from people seeking financial assistance between 5am and 10am.

He stated that as a result of the frustration, he advised anyone calling for financial assistance to engage

bucopho so that they could identify such a person and evaluate the request.

Mndzebele stated that his strategy had helped in sifting the thugs who abused his generosity.

However, he stated that there were people who persisted in calling him even if they were advised to engage

bucopho.

Asked about his source of income, Mndzebele stated that he survived on his monthly salary.
