MBABANE – For the first time in the history of the Previc Golf Challenge, the champion emerged from outside of the Mananga Golf Club.

Amateur golfer and Mbabane Swallows legend Cosmo Mthethwa, a member of the Mbabane Golf Club, was on Saturday crowned champion of the Previc golf Challenge. The 11th edition of the Mananga golf experience fielded 46 golfers who were not only in the race for the overall championship but the hole-in-one’s E6 500 incentive which remained unclaimed since the inception of the tournament in January. A count back (c/b) on 38 points separated Mthethwa from the runner-up, Fortune Ngwenya, who came close to registering his name for the second time on the champions’ charts after winning his first trophy in March 19, 2022 edition.

Courtesy of the sponsor in Previc Investment Director Pastor Victor Masilela, the Champion, Mthethwa walked away with a brand new golf bag valued at around E4 500. Mthethwa revealed that he was on top of his golfing game lately and exposure in foreign greens after a composition in KwaZulu-Natal was an inspiration for Mthethwa to thrive outside his capital city home turf.

“My golf is good these days and obviously keeping a clear mind-set is a positive because you can’t go to the golf course with a clouded mind and hope for the best performance. I really enjoyed the tournament and getting out of your comfort zone brings out the best in you. Thank you to the sponsor, Pastor Masilela and the lucrative golf related prizes,” Mthethwa said.

Mandla Gama came in third with a total of 35 points while BK Mbhamali secured fourth place with a count back on 34 points, followed by Mancoba Magagula who also recorded a similar score but was placed fifth. In appreciation of the sponsor who injected E85 000 on
