NKILIJI – The elderly folk of Nkiliji received an early Christmas yesterday when the Prince Sicalo Foundation distributed 172 food hampers.

The donation of the food parcels was made during the handover of two newly-constructed houses to Gogo Neli and Gogo Mgcabho Msibi of Nkiliji yesterday. The elderly women who are sister wives were identified by the foundation through the assistance of the constituency leaders (the Member of Parliament (MP), constituency councillor and indvuna yenkhundla.

The food items donated included mealie meal, cooking oil, mealie rice and beans.

Throw blankets were also distributed to the elderly folk.

Prince Sicalo expressed his joy to the elderly for coming in numbers to witness the handover ceremony. He said this showed that the constituents had support for their own. He also mentioned that he was pleased that the food parcels were sufficient for the elderly women.

When relaying how the foundation got to assist the two elderly women, Prince Sicalo said the team came with a report in the form of pictures, showing the dilapidated houses which the women were living in. He said although pictures spoke a thousand words, it could not be compared to the real conditions that the elderly women were living under. “We are warmed by the kind and wonderful words of appreciation by the elderly women, they encourage us to continue assisting others who are less privileged,” he said.

The prince conveyed his appreciation to the foundation’s team for their hard work in

Kukhanyeni MP Malavi Sihlongonyane praised the prince’s good heart for the amazing work he had done for the constituency on three occasions.

“You can never see a good thing happen in an environment that is not conducive. It is through our conduct, and if we will love our land, then it will in turn love us back. Many good things will happen if we continue with our good conduct,” he stated.

MP Sihlongonyane further announced that through the good behaviour of the constituents, the Ministry of Public Works had approved the tarring of the Lugaganeni/Luve Road. His announcement was met with ululations and applause by the constituents. He said the project was only through the dedication and collaboration of his colleagues.

On another note, he commended the bucopho of his constituency for working tirelessly in assisting the people of the constituency.

Sihlongonyane said the construction of the houses was made possible through his efforts together with Stella Dlamini, who was the pioneer throughout the construction process.

Meanwhile, Gogo Neli said she could not express her appreciation enough to the foundation, for the immense assistance provided to her and her family.
