MBABANE – Zithande Athletics Club enters its fourth week of the Woza Festive Training Programme.

The ambitious club is gearing up for another over 50 kilometres long run on Saturday.

This comes after a successful 54km road running from Manzini to Sigcineni and back to Tum’s Water World last week. This weekend, they will challenge themselves with a down run from the notorious Mehlwabovu Hill to the Hub at Zakhele.

Participat­ion is open to everyone. According to the club Coach, Nsizwa Thwala, the programmes is aimed at encouragin­g and inspiring people to keep up with their training throughout the festive season when most sporting activities will be off season.

Hardship

“This weekend we start at Mehlwabovu to Zakhele Sports Ground in Manzini. Now the legs are feeling it and that’s the mission to work through the hardship. They say when the going gets tough, only the tough get going. All we need now is a positive attitude because when the positive mind takes the lead, the legs follow without shaking,” Thwala said.

programme’s target is to complete between 800km and 900km after the final run penned for December 31, 2022.

Thwala commended the runners who have been part of the programme from the onset as well as those who joined them along their route and further encouraged beginners to join the fitness adventurou­s programme.

“I’m so encouraged by the runners who are showing so much dedication towards their health and fitness goals. They are really pushing in this very demanding programme,” he said.
