What is the best political model?

-

,

1 most countries and jurisdictions all over the world, politicians and other public leaders are directly elected into office as a matter of routine. Worldwide, free and fair elections are considered to be the route to and hallmark of true democracy. In most countries, all 0embers of 3arliament (03s) are elected into office, with no room for appointed 03s. If the prescriptive interpretation of the Abraham Lincoln definition of democracy is used, this approach then seems to be the most democratic one. This is because Abraham Lincoln described democracy as government of the people, by the people, for the people. 6uch being the case there should or would be no room in a democratically elected 3arliament of the people for non-elected 03s.

In fact, according to this definition, one cannot be a people¶s representative in 3arliament if and when one was not directly elected into 3arliament by the very same people whom one purports to represent therein.

This kind of makes good sense, right? Who would a non-elected 03 be representing in 3arliament?

However, the above scenario only makes sense if and when one subscribes to the above elections-based notion or interpretation of the Abraham Lincoln definition of democracy. If and when looked at from another and very different angle, perspective or direction, the scenario changes completely.

The converse or alternative perspective or interpretation of the Abraham Lincoln definition of democracy is a very liberal and non-prescriptive one. It says that the meaning of government of the people, by the people, for the people is that the people have got the right to decide on who governs them, how and in what way they are governed, and how that person or :

( are all humans created by one *od why do we do such to each other? Why? It has come to my attention that humans focus on what is not right to do instead of doing the right thing. They should be focusing on their dreams, where they¶re heading on, and not trying to depress other people¶s lives.

'o you know that if a heart comes to a point where it¶s broken, the chances of it being mended are very slim? There are things in life that are meant to be ghosted if I can put it like that (in a gangster style) but I hope you get the idea. What I¶m trying to say is that if something doesn¶t sit well with you about your partner just leave in peace.

There¶s one demon I know and that is revenge. 9engeance hurts a lot of people in the name of hate and destroyed them to the core. %ut guys, think about this if all on earth those people who govern them would come into office or power.

In other words, this interpretation of democracy takes the liberal view that as long as any government system is seen by the governed people as being theirs, by them and for them, regardless of whether there were elections involved or not, then such a government or governing system is an equally democratic one as well. This is actually very logical and also makes sense too, right?

INTERPRETATIONS

What the above two very different but equally logical interpretations of the meaning of the Abraham Lincoln definition of democracy show is that no one should prescribe their own meaning and definition of democracy on anyone or any group of people. The true definition of democracy is to let people do what they want and what they think is good for them in terms of their own governing systems.

If people want to or choose to give some of their governing powers to an appointing natural leadership authority, then they are free to do so.

1o one should come to tell them that doing so would not be democratic because that is what they want. It is their own *od given democratic choice and prerogative to want what they want, and to choose to do what they want. 'emocracy is not about elections.

It is about people doing what they want about who governs them and how those people who govern them are put into office, and what powers are delegated to them by the people they govern.

If the governed people decide

THINKING

that revenged against those that hurt us, im sure we¶d all be enemies and enemies kill each other. Then, think if it were for the name of µrevenge¶ some of us would be dead by now.

Learn to let go even if it¶s not easy. )orgiving someone takes a lot of energy and thinking. %efore you forgive, your mind calls up a meeting with the heart and discusses the issue at hand so you see how it¶s such a long process.

Letting go doesn¶t mean you have forgiven that certain individual but they want to be governed by a directly elected president, together with directed elected 03s and directly elected Cabinet ministers, principal secretaries and other heads of public institutions, then that is the democratic way the people would have chosen to be governed

Hence they should be left alone to govern themselves in their very own chosen way.

The very same logic also applies when people decide or choose to be governed by natural non-elected leadership at any level of their governing system.

They must also be peacefully left alone because that would also be their own democratic choice to which they are one hundred percent entitled, right?

However, after all has been said and done as discussed above, there is still some room for objective debate about which one of the above given two different systems of democracy would be the best model.

This can be done without taking away the democratic rights of the governed people to choose how they want to be governed, and also without judging any one system as being more democratic than the other. %oth systems are equally democratic and there should be no argument about that.

Also as already alluded to the above, both interpretations of the meaning of the Abraham Lincoln definition of democracy are equally correct and logical if that is what the governed people want. There is no need to argue about that fact. If these definitions were food, then both of them are equally nutritious you decided to not pay attention and move on.

I know what I¶ve just said is not an easy task to do because this includes the matters of the heart. It is said that the heart goes for what it wants.

The same person you loved with all your heart hurts you so much more than a knife can ever do but there comes a point where you have to let go of all the grudges and move on.

I don¶t know if here in Eswatini we do have love specialists but I¶m sure they would agree with me on this one. I once watched a soapie named and hunger satisfying, which the main purpose of food, right?

However, there is still room for comparing these two equally nutritious and hunger satisfying foods in terms of their tastefulness in order to see which one of them is more delicious than the other.

Even though the taste of food has got nothing to do with its nutritional value or hunger satisfying capacity, taste definitely contributes to the ease with which food can be eaten or consumed in nutritionally correct quantities.

In the same manner, the comparison of the differences between the elective democracy and non-elective democracy models would only focus on which model is more effective and efficient than the other without saying which model is more democratic or less democratic than the other because both of them are equally democratic if and when that is what the governed people want or have chosen for themselves.

ASPECT

is

Hence, herein below, this is exactly what we are going to discuss right now. We will debate this aspect alone and only this aspect. 6o which model of democracy is more effective and more efficient than the other?

One day I watched and listened to a video on this very same subject matter in which one Chinese man was asked about the difference between the western and Chinese models of democracy. The Chinese man said that the western model of democracy which was based on and also just emphasised on elections alone was very outdated, inefficient and ineffective.

He said that the more modern, effective and efficient model was the combined selection and election model which the Chinese currently use.

He contended that correct, effective and efficient public leaders must first of all be selected through a vetting process which would emphasise not only on their character, personality and behaviour, but also on their qualifications, experience and track records.

Only those leaders who qualify for the available public positions as sifted through the selection process would

µTill the end of time¶.

6o, let me share with you a bit of what transpired. A lady ( 0aya) had an obsession with another guy from work (Arjun) and 0aya loved Arjun a lot and ended up luring him with her money.

There was this one time she decided to outpour her feelings to him. Time went by and they dated and got married, and ever since marriage, her obsession got stronger such that Arjun learned about her obsession with her. He divorced her and got married to his childhood friend and 0aya ought to murder the new lady of Arjun.

Her love for Arjun overpowered her and the divorce part really hurt 0aya. 6he decided to stalk them but in the end, she pushed Arjun to kill her and he did.

%efore she died, she confessed that her love for Arjun was too much for her to control hence she got Arjun to shoot her with a gun because seeing him being married to someone else devastates her and she had to die. It was a sad story.

I learned that you should walk away the minute you get hurt. 'on¶t wait till it gets all packed up because it¶ll kill you one day.

0ove on with life, there are plenty of fishes in the lake.

A successful life brings so much and should then be allowed to present themselves to the elective process for election into office.

He argued that selection weeds out both bad characters and unqualified people. His arguments made a lot of good sense to me

One of the biggest challenges of setting the bar so low as to just say that anyone who is a citi]en and of a certain age, has got a given residential address in a certain area, is not insolvent, and has no defined criminal record, can contest for and get elected into 3arliament or some such other public office can actually be very self-defeating as far as the efficiency and effectiveness of government is concerned.

This is because the possibility of ending up with square pegs in round holes is very high in such situations. This is when we end up with illiterate 03s and yet all parliamentary work is based on the written word. All legal %ills come in writing and all debates are recorded and transcribed into written documents.

How effective and efficient would an illiterate and innumerate 03s be under such circumstances? 0ost probably not at all, right? Another thing is that even though 03s may use their own vernacular language in parliament, all written 3arliamentary documents are usually in the national working language, which may not be the vernacular language.

An already illiterate 03 would never be able to handle such documents, right? What is worse is when we end up with that very same both literally illiterate and definitely subject matter illiterate 03 as a government minister

The level of inefficiency and ineffectiveness of government would then just hit ground ]ero, right? Hence there is a whole lot of truth in the argument that the kind of democracy which is just based on and emphasises more on elections without setting the selection bar very high in terms of the required qualifications and experience tends to be inefficient and ineffective as well.

However, the very same inefficiency and ineffectiveness can also be experienced if 03s and other public leaders are also just appointed into office by an appointing authority without regard for their fitness for office in terms of qualifications and experience as well. Hence, for now, I would side with the Chinese model every day peace that you never thought you¶d ever have. 6uch things happen in life but we get up and chase our dreams. Accomplish what you promised yourself when you were young. Let me tell you about what I dreamt of when I was a kid. A beautiful imagination it was

I wanted to be a chief excutive officer (CEO), sit in my own office, live in a mansion, drive an expensive, luxurious car and have maids in my fort. That is what keeps me going, my dreams pursue me every day.

It¶s a waste of energy so cut yourself that crap and let go. It¶s also vital that you discover your purpose for this generation.

Have you ever thought about why you were born at such a time? Why weren¶t you born in the s or

s? 0aybe it¶s because you have what this generation needs. 0aybe this generation needs more of your skills.

The big question that stands out is WHAT A5E
