MBABANE - Unknown people invaded the University of Eswatini (UNESWA) Kwaluseni Campus where they manhandled staff at the cafeteria and stole food that was to be served to students.

The incident that left everyone scared and students without food took place on Saturday at around 9am.

According to some of the students who were at the cafeteria during the commotion, a group of young men whom they suspect to be students budged into the cafeteria while they were having breakfast.

Definitely

The unknown people, according to the students, were not more than 10 but definitely more than five.

The students said they entered the cafeteria and started making noise. They said while they were looking at the rowdy crowd, they started being violent.

“They manhandled and terrorised the kitchen staff, including the matron,” said one of the witnesses. The students said for a second, they were all confused as to what was happening.

Some of the unknown men terrorised the staff while others stole the students’ breakfast.

The students said they stood there while the group was helping themselves to their food.

The food that was taken included sausages, bacon and fish fingers, among other breakfast foods that were served that morning. After they had taken all the food, the group fled the scene without getting caught, added the students.

Students who had not dished their breakfast meal had to help themselves to what was left behind.

They said they were left with soft porridge and sour porridge, which they ate for the day.
