MBABANE – Local Hip Hop rapper King Terry has partnered with Unilever for a summer drive roadshow to market some of the latter’s products.

Unilever is a British-'utch multinational consumer goods company with headTuarters in London, England. Unilever is organised into three main divisions; foods and refreshments, home care, beauty and personal care. As part of the summer drive roadshow, the 2022 Pick n Pay PnP Luju cook-off winner King Terry will be preparing self-made recipes using Unilever products ,which are mainly Aromat, 5obertsons and Ola. King Terry, born Akhona Bhengu, is a self-taught chef who loves to experiment on his dishes by fusing flavours and techniTues from different cultures together to create his signature dishes. Inspired by Asian recipes, he particularly enjoys creating dishes with sweet and sour contrasts, mixing spices and opposite textures to make every bite an experience. After winning the PnP Luju Cook-off competition, King Terry has been running his own kitchen business. His goal is to turn his home kitchen business styled 5ib 6hack into a restaurant.

The roadshow presented to the public by Unilever’s Aromat, 5obertsons and Ola began in Mbabane last week Tuesday,

where the talented cook prepared his spicy dishes for food lovers present during the roadshow. The celebrity chef and award-winning Hip Hop artist confirmed through an interview with this publication about his partnership with Unilever.

³It’s basically called the season of flavour; I have partnered with Aromat, 5obertsons spices and Ola, which makes Magnum. I will be pushing Aromat, the new 5obertson 6pices and the Ola ice creams,” King Terry said.

Opportunity

The self-taught cook went on to express that he was excited to have bagged this opportunity, as it was one of the biggest partnerships he has had in his career. ³It’s an exciting partnership because the food side of King Terry is relatively new. It’s actually one of the biggest partnerships of my career; honestly it is the biggest partnership of my career It’s very, very exciting. It’s nice to be able interact to people and to reach thousands of people through my cooking. I have reached thousands of people who have been able to enjoy what I cook and lots of them are loving it. It’s a very exciting thing for me,” the talented cook said.

:hen narrating about his brand success, King Terry revealed that the PnP Luju Cook-off was a major stepping stone for his brand, as people started noticing it and got to know about other talents he boasted besides music. ³I think that was a major push for that side of my brand because people didn’t know about it.

Platform

³The competition made food manufactures, especially in the fast-moving consumer goods space, recognise that we can actually use this guy as he is not just good in music and advertising; he is also a good chef. As a celebrity chef, it is easy to attach me because of the Hip Hop side; people are not used to a cooking Hip Hop chef. The Luju platform is what opened all the doors, as I was able to expose myself and show people that I could actually cook; winning was a cherry on top as in the semi-finals people knew that I could cook, but once I won they were satisfied and said I was definitely good,” revealed the cook. He further added that as part of the summer drive this week, he will be going to Man]ini and Matsapha. After that they will be spreading their wings out side the country if not disturbed by the freTuent rains.
