Name: Residence: Before: After: When did you start training and what was the motivation behind?

“I started in 2017; a friend suggested we go to Studio Z. We were running buddies. I wanted to add a different dimension to my fitness as I wanted to lose belly fat. I stopped during the COVID-19 era and began again in January 2022.”

What was your weight then compared to now?

“I weighed 85kg, I’m now at 79kg.”

What sort of lifestyle contributed to your weight gain?

“I have always tried to exercise for health reasons since my early 20’s, but my food choices were not good. I love chocolate, all types of cake and all types of cheese.”

What kind of exercises do you do?

“I now do strength training that is lifting weights and metafit which is intense cardio.”

Do you stick to a specific nutrition programme?

“No, I still eat my chocolate cake etc. but I’ve cut down a lot and eat lots of salads, veggies, pulses and fruits.”

What challenges do you normally encounter in keeping up with your new lifestyle and how do you handle them?

“I suffer from arthritis and sometimes the pain in my joints is unbearable. The challenge particularly in the past year as my condition has worsened is to keep going! But if I don’t go to the gym the joint pain is 10 times worse. So I decided not to even think about it to just get up and no matter how terrible I’m feeling because that’s what you do for work or school just go so why not gym?”

How has your life improved so far and how do you impact the people, especially ladies in your circle or community?

“Fitness levels have increased and I’m stronger, joint pain is significantly less than it was, I feel awesome and the bonus is that I’ve lost some kilos along the way. My mum go to gyms with me, she was almost 70 when she started at Studio Z, after she saw the difference in me. Some other family members and friends have also started exercising and trying to be healthier as a result.”

What are your weight and fitness goals given a certain time frame? How hard or easy will it be to achieve that goal?

“My goals for now are more health-related. I got sick from COVID-19 and it took me a while to recover. Restarting with studio Z has given me my strength back.”

What advice can you share with other people who face weight problems but lack the courage to start exercising

and make it a lifestyle?

“Just go for it you’ll never regret. Start today do whatever you enjoy whether it be walking, dancing, cleaning, cycling, weight lifting, running just move today.”

What is your motivation slogan?

“Consistency is the key.”
