‘Swazi Bolt’ gets PVM sponsorship
He also has sponsorship for International Olympic Solidarity Scholarship through Eswatini Olympic and Commonwealth Games Association (EOCGA).
Commenting on the sponsorship, ’Swazi Bolt ‘said: “This is an exciting time for me and with PVM support, I can now be even more focused on my 2023 goal ambitions. Like me, PVM wants to make a positive impact across Africa and inspire people to reach their full potential. I’m excited to see what we can achieve together,” he said.
Matsenjwa mentioned that the sponsorship was a stepping stone for his career. “The PVM sponsorship was a stepping stone for me in my career, although I’m about to retire and at my peak. To receive such a big recognition from a big company whereby I will get free analysis and recommendations by the company’s dietician is exciting.
“The sponsorship comes with free supplements and I will get discounts if I feel like the supplements are not enough. I will get discounts of supplements and energy drinks,” ’Swazi
Bolt’ said.
The number one Eswatini sprinter also mentioned that supplements were important in helping on recovery. “Athletes must be aware of what they take because we get tested, so athletes must know what they take because we get tested. I have been using PVM before Tokyo Olympic Games and their supplements are clean and have been tested so many times,” he said.
‘Swazi Bolt’ is also sponsored by sportswear company Adidas in a lucrative deal that started last year January 2022 to 31 December 2024. He mentioned that having a sponsor was very important to every athlete. “The sport is very expensive, when you talk of what to wear and the kit. You need to recover because you are ahead of the following day’s work out, you need to have up to standard physiotherapy, and all those things need money. For me I had to cut a lot of things like for now I don’t buy spikes, running clothes and now I won’t buy supplements and for one to get that you need to work very hard,” he said.
PVM also sponsors SA athletes Akani Simbine (Common Wealth 100m gold medalist) Wayde van Niekerk (400m Olympic gold medalist and World record holder) Estie van Tonder (national kayak champion), Magda Nieuwoudt (Pro Triathlete), Arno Botha (South African Rugby player), Wian Sullwald (Pro triathlete), Cornel Fredericks (SA 400m hurdler) and many others.
The company was established in the late 1960’s as a result of intensive scientific research undertaken by the National Institute of Food Research of the Council for Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR). As a result, PVM Nutritional Sciences became one of the first companies to manufacture clinical nutritional products to combat severe malnutrition and produced the World’s Original Energy Bar, based on an earlier product devised to provide essential energy and nutrition for military personnel in combat.
