Training a lifestyle for Gloria
Gloria weighed 90kg two months ago and has now lost 8kg so far.
MBABANE – One popular method to build habits is called the 21/90 rule. The rule is simple enough. Commit to a personal or professional goal for 21 straight days.
After three weeks, the pursuit of that goal should have become a habit. Seemingly for Gloria Gbuji, she has incorporated training into her lifestyle. And through her routine training, she has managed to shed 8kg.
Her goal, however, was not necessarily to lose weight but to keep fit and stay healthy. She has had challenges in her journey, but let’s hear it from the horse’s mouth as she shares how she’s shed eight kilogrammes through gym.
It’s a story dating back 10 years, one to learn from and start on working on having your own active health and fitness lifestyle.
Has she lost eight kilos in 10 years? This is your definite read to find out as she shares her journey;
Gloria Gbuji Hhelehhele, Manzini
Full name: Residence:
Studio-Z, Manzini
Gym: When did you start training and what was the motivation behind?
“I can’t recall but it should be when the Studio-Z Gym first started. I’d say nine to 10 years ago. I wanted to lose weight, keep fit and stay healthy.”
What was your weight then compared to now?
“My weight fluctuates. Not because I am not consistent in my workout, it is because of a lack of healthy eating. I am determined this year to change all of that just to keep moving forward, not back and forth. So far, since I have been consistent lately I weighed 90kg and now I am on 82kg.”
What sort of lifestyle contributed to your weight gain?
“Not meal prepping, eating anything available the wrong time.”
What kind you do? of
and eating
exercises
at
do
“We do various exercises like cardio, weight lifting and core exercises.”
Do you stick to a specific nutrition programme?
“No, but I try to eat as healthy as possible.”
What challenges do you normally encounter in keeping up with your new lifestyle and how do you handle them?
“Finding time to make healthy food to stick to a healthy eating routine, I have to consciously make an effort to set out time to make healthy food so that I avoid buying fast foods to eat during the day.”
How has your life improved so far and how do you impact people, especially ladies in your circle or community?
“I have gotten fitter. My physical health has greatly improved. I have more stamina and strength. From the positive result I’ve experienced, a lot of the ladies around me see the need to improve their lifestyle and get fit. Some of them have started their own exercise programmes.”
What are your weight and fitness goals, given a certain time frame? How hard or easy will it be to achieve that goal?
“This year I’d like to lose some more weight and further tone my body. It will be fairly easy if I am consistent in my weekly gym routine and I maintain healthy eating habits.”
What advice can you share with other people who face weight problems but lack the courage to start exercising and make it a lifestyle?
“Fitness and living a healthier lifestyle is a marathon and not a sprint. You’ll only see results after a prolonged period of consistency. Instant results aren’t likely to happen, so you have to be patient with yourself and give it time. Remind yourself of your goal and push for that.”
What is slogan? your motivation
“Hard work pays off.”
