MBABANE – It’s not a laughing matter but hub giants Manzini Wanderers are not safe from the axe with 10 games to go in the league and also 23 points behind the leaders Green Mamba who they face this afternoon. Under Coach Ernest Mavuso, Green Mamba are looking stronger than ever and ready to go all the way and challenge for the title that has evaded them in the last few seasons – they last won it in the 2018/19 season. This was their second as they had also lifted the championship in 2010/11.

Wanderers, on the other hand, have gone for nearly two decades without this title as they last won it in

Wanderers 2002/03 and they were defending it that season, but they have been a pale shadow of that LiWeseli team or the Weslians of the yesteryear.

Their most recent seasons they always flirt with relegation and for the first time, it looks so realistic that they could go down as they have got only 14 points with just 10 more matches to play. They are placed third from bottom and only one point off the relegation zone.

This makes it a must-win for Green Mamba who are looking to retain the summit as army side and first round incentive winners Young Buffaloes take on unpredictable rookies Nsingizini Hotspurs tomorrow in Mhlume, Nsukuwansuku Stadium.

Coach Terisayi Changara has a mammoth task against Green Mamba who have quality, experience and a winning mentality against a team that has gone over five months without paying salaries to its personnel. It’s about survival now for Wanderers, while it is all competition for Green Mamba and the latter won 3-1 in the first round.
