“I started in March 2022, a friend had lost massive weight in a few months, so I was inspired and I wanted to lose weight as well.”

MBABANE – Once you see the results, it becomes an addiction. At least this is what happened to Amanda Simelane after she started seeing the fruits of her training journey motivated by her desire to lose weight.

She does not care how visible the progress is, but appreciate­s it as it comes and she can see it.

So, stopping is not an option for her but to keep working hard to achieve her weight goal. Find out from the horse’s mouth how she does it, where she is headed and what keeps her going even when challenges come.

What was your weight then compared to now?

“I cannot remember the exact weight, but I think I was 88kg when I started last March. I’ve since lost three kilogramme­s.”

What sort of lifestyle contribute­d to your weight gain?

“I ate lots of junk without any exercise.”

What kind you do? of exercises do

“I do aerobics at least five times a week.”

Do you stick to a specific nutrition programme?

“I have just started using Herbalife, taking multi-fibre and tea.”

What challenges do you normally encounter in keeping up with your new lifestyle and how do you handle them?

“The challenges I have are cravings for junk food, but nothing beats determinat­ion and knowing what you want, your body goal and the time frame.”

How has your life improved so far and how do you impact the people, especially ladies in your circle or community?

“I feel healthier and I’m gaining confidence in my body, because as ladies we tend to lose self-confidence due to being criticised about our weight and belly.”

What are your weight and fitness goals given a certain time frame? How hard or easy will it be to achieve that goal?

“About the weight goal, when I started exercising my goal was to lose lots of weight, but I think I am comfortabl­e with my present weight even though my goal is to lose fat more than the weight. It is very hard to lose weight; it requires patience, consistenc­y, dedication and having a goal.”

What advice can you share with other people who face weight problems but lack the courage to start exercising and make it a lifestyle?

“My advice to my fellow friends and everyone facing weight problems is that weight gain or weight loss is that never give up on yourself. Gradually start embracing healthy foods, before you know it, it will be part of your lifestyle.”
