MBABANE – Eswatini football is getting recognised.

Young Buffaloes centre back Siboniso ‘Sthobela’ Mamba is the third player to appear in Africa Soccer Zone after being recognised for his contribution in the 6-2 drubbing of Manzini Sea Birds in a game that played last Sunday at Nsukuwansuku Stadium.

Meanwhile, Africa Soccer Zone is a sports website which has also a Facebook page, which has about 270 000 likes. According to its contact details, it is a Ghana-based soccer website.

They included him in the team of the week for March 6 to March 12, 2023.

Also included in the squad is Mamelodi Sundown’s duo of Peter Shalulile and Teboho Mokoena, to mention a few.

‘Sthobela’ was instrumental as he scored a hat-trick and helped his side remain on course to challenge for the league title in this season’s interesting MTN Premier League.

Continent

The strong defender is the third player in the league to get a spot among the best players in the African continent in the past weekend.

Young Buffaloes Coach Mandla ‘Stofu’ Dlamini said he was happy for Mamba as he was a very disciplined player.

“This is good news for the team, especially because the player has been out on the sidelines for a long time. ‘Sthobela’ has come back in the right time in the team and we hope his experience will help us going into the last games of the season,” he said.

In the past, Eswatini had players like Mandla Palma, Sabelo ‘Sikhali’ Ndzinisa and Tony ‘TT’ Tsabedze appearing in the CAF team of the week when Mbabane Swallows was playing in the TotalEnergies CAF Confederation Cup in the 2017/1018 season.

Buffaloes next face Mbabane Swallows in a tricky fixture when the league returns after the FIFA break in three weeks’ time.
