In a press statement, Savanna cider %rand 0anager .ayla Hendricks said the awards gave them the opportunity to uplift the nation through humour by celebrating the iconic comedians who kept the country laughing.
“The &omics¶ &hoice $wards is a platform to showcase long-standing and up-and-coming local talent and to collaborate on how the industry grows and becomes a sustainable livelihood for these talents comedians.

'r Shakes has over the years performed outside the country, and developed strong working relationships with comedians like Skhumba, Sifiso Nene and Thandiwe among others. The invitation sent to 'r Shakes, born %onginkhosi 'lamini stated that it would be a pleasure to have his presence at the prestigious event.

She said the Savanna Newcomer Showcase gives a platform to those who may not have had the opportunity to perform on such a big stage throughout their careers so far.
“It is an important element of the Savanna &omics¶ &hoice $wards and a great way to open the industry and introduce the local comedy space to some fresh talent,” she said.
