Municipal Council of Mbabane changes suppliers
MBABANE – The Municipal Council of Mbabane (MCM) has enlisted 29 new suppliers they intend to award tenders.
The council issued the tender for suppliers late last year and has since completed the evaluation phase.
MCM then announced its intention to award these suppliers on Wednesday, and if each supplier is not contested, they will then be awarded the contract.
A noticeable supplier from the list was Galp Filling Station Mbabane, to which MCM intends to award the oil and grease contract.
It was stipulated how much these contacts were to cost the council; however, it was revealed that the ICT support and maintenance category, among others, was not awarded.
Meanwhile, the Government of Eswatini continues to contribute to the development challenges faced by the MCM.

This was mentioned by Mbabane Mayor Dephney Mhlanga in a statement.
The mayor said the challenge the council has had to deal with was not having adequate funds to implement all the programmes and projects in the Integrated Development Plan (IDP), especially infrastructure projects, so they have had to be reviewed out of the plan.
The mayor also mentioned that a total of 19 Small, Micro And Medium Enterprises (SMMEs), which include

Mhlanga also mentioned that they were determined to address flash flooding; that was a common feature during rainy seasons in the past decade in the central business district (CBD) and Sidwashini Industrial Site.
Increase
She said part of the strategy has been to install larger culverts to increase water intake across all main drainage lines.
The council’s intervention has led to reduced incidences of flooding.
The mayor alluded to the fact that the rehabilitation of Somhlolo Road (from the central business district to Eswatini College of Technology) and Makhosini Drive, next to Ekwetsembeni and Sifundzani Primary School, cost about E50 million.
She said in the CBD, construction work for the bus holding area next to the Central Transport Administration (CTA) premises had begun.
The public consultation to sensitise stakeholders had been completed, and the project will be completed next year. Mhlanga added that the objective was to decongest the Mbabane Bus Rank.
