MBABANE - Chairman of the Witchdoctors Association, Makhanya Makhanya, has revealed why some members of the association disassociated themselves from Easter services.

7he (aster services, also known as µ*ood )riday’ is an annual global event where all people who sub scribe to the &hristian faith com memorate the death, crucifixion and resurrection of Jesus &hrist. &hristians value the death and res urrection of Jesus because they regard Him as their saviour through faith. 7he event lasts for three days, starting from )riday in the global calendar.

In an interview last week, Makh anya said traditional healers were desirous to take part in the event however, he stated that the theme µ*ood )riday’ created doubt.

He said witchdoctors regarded Jesus as their leader by virtue of Him being the main healer.

³:e would have loved to take part in the event as we are also believers and the .ing’s regiment. However, we have a challenge in celebrating the death of our main healer.

7aking part in the celebration will make us look as if we support the death of our main healer.

Tinyanga were saddened by the purposeful killing of Jesus. ³:e are asking ourselves why Jesus was killed instead of slaughtering mil lions of animals for a big sacrifice on the day,” he said.

Makhanya stated that traditional healers did not encourage the sacri fice of human blood to save people’s lives. He stated that traditional healers were still fine with the use of animals for cleansing purposes.

Healing

According to Makhanya, nothing would stop the blood of animals from cleansing and healing people.

³If you read the Bible, you can hear Jesus complaining about pain. He even asked *od to remove the cup of suffering, meaning He was in deep pain. 2ne of His disciples tried to save him because he witnessed the pain He went through. :e can not, therefore, commemorate the death of Jesus as a µ*ood )riday’,” he said.
