MBABANE – Bottom-placed Seven Dreams have lived to see another day after collecting a valuable point against stubborn and wasteful Denver Sundowns.

The sides played 1-all draw in an MTN Premier League game played here yesterday.

Seven Dreams were a hard nut to crack for Sundowns in the game which saw them double the figures for points for the first time after 22 matches played. They, however,

remain rooted at the bottom of the log table, having amassed 10 points with four games to go. Sundowns remained unmoved on the eight spot as they have accumulated 26 points after yesterday’s draw.

The Mahlanya-based ensemble who, do not want to go down without fighting back, were sure to stun their mentor Gcina Dlamini as early as some few seconds after referee Wandile

Mamba’s first whistle. Experienced left winger Phumlani Ngwenya stood up for his side and made the first impression exactly after a minute into game, as he unleashed a ground shot that caught Sundowns goalkeeper Ayikwei Benard napping between the sticks. Ngwenya finished off a cross from Jabulane Mavimbela from the right flank.

As if nothing had happened, Sundowns were calm and tried to make several attacks on the visitors’ defence that was commanded by seasoned defender Jerome Ntshalintshali. Mike Dombo could have restored parity after he sneaked out of the defence for a free header that hit the bar to swing off the pitch.

Four minutes later Lethukhanya Dlamini could have registered his name, but watched his shot go wide from close range. Seven Dreams, who also attacked Sundowns, could not contain the pressure until a minute before half-time. Sundowns captain nodded in a corner brought in by Mthokozisi Hlatshwako to level matters heading into the break.

After the break, Sundowns were in control of the match, forcing the visitors to sit back and rely on fruitless counter attacks, while they enjoyed much possession. They created a host of scoring opportunities but their gods were not with them to give them a comfortable win. Seven Dreams also made crucial serves that denied them the winner.
