Galp Swaziland enlisted for Municipal Council of Mbabane tender
MBABANE – The Municipal Council of Mbabane (MCM) has enlisted 29 new suppliers they intend to award for the current financial year.
The council issued the tender for suppliers late last year and has since completed the evaluation phase.
MCM then announced its intention to award these suppliers last week Wednesday, and if each supplier is not contested, they will then be awarded the contract.
A noticeable supplier from the list was Galp Filling Station Mbabane, to which MCM intends to award the oil and grease contract.
It was stipulated how much these contacts were to cost the council; however, it was revealed that the ICT support and maintenance category, among others, was not awarded.
Meanwhile, the Times of Eswatini on December 4, 2022, reported that some Galp Filling Stations had a shortage of petrol. Though some of the filling stations still have petrol, many of the stations that were contacted in Mbabane, Ngwenya, Siteki and even in Manzini had run out of the fuel except for diesel. Others such as the filling station at Eveni in Mbabane still had some petrol. It is now feared that soon, all the Galp Filling Stations will run out of petrol.
A manager at Ngwenya said they had run out of petrol. He said he was not sure when the delivery of the petrol would take place. Some of the attendants who were found at the filling station only signalled to motorists that there was no petrol but said diesel was available.

said the shortage of petrol would result in other non-Galp filling stations also failing to supply. He said when there was a shortage of petrol at Galp Filling Stations; this was going to put pressure on other filling stations. He
further revealed that the problem was that even the depot had run out.
In April 2022, the company’s chief executive officer (CEO) in Portugal noted fears of the future shortage due to the Russia-Ukraine war.
