Cash galore in VOC Marathon

MBABANE – The VOC Half Marathon set to take place in a fortnight comes with some motivation­al cash prizes. The Voice of the Church (VOC) sponsored this third edition of the race billed for Zakhele Sports Ground on May 6 to the tune of E50 000. The race is expected to attract close to 2 000 athletics enthusiast­s from clubs, companies, corporates and as well as from beyond the country’s borders. Already, the organisers have announced giveaway prices for any of the groups that will register in high numbers, while the 500 early birds are entitled to goodie bags.

The one who will show the runners a clean pair of heels, both in the male and female categories will receive E2 000. Winners in the 10km and 5km will get E1 000 and E600, respective­ly. The prizes will be up for grabs up to

the fifth position, where those who will get position five will get a consolatio­n prize of E300 in the half marathon.

The cash prizes also spread up to the juniors’ Under-18, veterans, masters and grand masters categories, whose winners will receive cash. The VOC Half Marathon is accredited by Athletics Eswatini (AE). The VOC is also in partnershi­p with Zithande Athletics Clubs (ZAC). Registrati­on points are spread across the country, where interested individual­s book at an affordable fee.
