- BY MACHAWE FAKUDZE

MBABANE – The Premier League of Eswatini (PLE) has printed 6 000 tickets for the Mbabane Derby – each for E50. This derby features the two big teams in the land from the capital city, Mbabane Swallows and Mbabane Highlanders. It is billed for the Mavuso Sports Centre at 3pm today. This epic clash between the two giants of Eswatini football was won 2-1 by Highlanders in the first round match that was played at the same venue on December 17, 2022.

Due to the scores of people who cascade to the stadium when these two teams face each other, the PLE usually issues more tickets.

This was witnessed in the first round where the PLE issued 5 000 tickets for the ‘mother of all derbies’ in the country, which is equivalent to the sitting capacity of the Mavuso Sports Centre.

According to a source close to the red and white capital city giants 6 000 tickets have been printed for the ‘Big Derby’, which shows an increase of 1 000 from the last derby tickets of December. “The PLE will provide tickets for 6 000 fans,” the source briefly said.

Meanwhile, PLE Football Manager

Pat Vilakati confirmed 6 000 tickets were issued for the match and will be available at the match venue. “We had anticipated to issue 5 000 tickets, but Swallows requested that we issue 6 000.

“I would like to urge supporters to arrive early for the game as gates will be open at 11am. The sitting arrangement is as follows, Swallows will use the main stand while Highlanders will use the other stand usually referred as Etjeni,” Vilakati explained.

He further encouraged supporters to behave well before, during and after the game as well accept the results.
