EZULWINI- A long-standing land dispute has seen neighours engaging in a physical fight for over two days at Ngcobingen­i.

Dumisa Shongwe, who shares a boundary with Futhi Masilela, is said to have been fighting his neighbour for years.

It has been gathered that the hatred escalated to a physical fight last Tuesday and Thursday after Shong we allegedly confronted Masilelas¶s children while working within the family yard.

The second fight is said to have taken place a few hours after an interventi­on by the inner council last Thursday.

Eswatini tradition and the &onsti tution provide that every community is governed by a chief, who works through an inner council led by indvuna, in promoting peace and harmony among his subMects. The inner council deals with all issues affecting the chief¶s subMects with the sole purpose of finding an amicable solution.

During her court appearance, Simel ane first asked Mndzebele whether she knew the value of the items she was accused of stealing. In her response, the accused person told the court that she was not aware of the items¶ value.

Confronted

It is said that the fight ensued after Shongwe allegedly confronted his neighbour¶s son Phinda Tsabedze, who was working within the family yard. It is alleged that Shongwe en tered his neighbour¶s homestead and kicked a wheelbarro­w that was being used by Phinda.

It is alleged that Phinda was trying to level the road leading to his home stead with concrete on Shongwe¶s road when confronted.

Shongwe then allegedly assaulted Phinda with a pickaxe handle and further chased him around his home stead last Tuesday.
