MBABANE – Pigg’s Peak Black Swallows have diminished All Nations’ chances of surviving the axe after edging them 1-0.

This transpired in an MTN National First Division League game, which was played at Prince of Wales Ground two days ago.

A lone goal scored by Mhlengi Mmema was enough to upset the rookies, who were eying maximum points to move out of the drop zone. The Shiselweni-based side are 12th after 23 matches of the National First Division (NFD). They are one of four teams that will go down if results do not go their way in the last three matches. Meanwhile, it was a valuable point for the Pigg’s Peak-based side, as they are still hovering above the relegation zone with 31 points. They are eighth.

Balanced

It was a balanced game which could have gone either way. Worth mentioning is that the game started 15 minutes late due to clash of kits. Black Swallows had to find another kit for their goalkeeper as he donned red colours, which were almost similar to the maroon kit won by the visitors. It was a pacey game that saw the home team having much possession of the game but both sides created almost equal scoring opportunities. The home team utilised one of its numerous chances 10 minutes before the regulation time when second half substitute Mhlengi Mmema finished off a cross unmarked from Siboniso Sibeko. Jonathan Boafa could have doubled the advantage five minutes later but All Nataions goalkeeper Nhlanhla Shabangu was well positioned to block his header. The visitors tried some counter attacks in an effort to restore parity but it was already too late for them. When referee Mnciniseli Sithole blew his final whistle, it was as if he was also blowing their hopes of continuing to play in the National First Division.
