‘Suarez’ returns from Italy

- BY MENGAMELI MABUZA

MBABANBE – Nsingizini Hotspurs attacking midfielder Mayibongwe ‘Suarez’ Mabuza has returned in the country following a three week assessment in Italy.

The pacey national Under-20 player left for Italy last month with Moneni Pirates midfielder Sizwe Yeki ‘Madumane’ Khumalo to join the development side of Pontedera which plies its trade in Serie C.

However, ‘Madumane’ was not able to finish his assessment after failing a medical test due to a heart challenge. Reflecting on his time in Italy, Suarez said he was happy with what he learnt while in Europe.

Back

“I’m back in the country after being in Italy for three weeks with Pontedera development side. I have learnt a lot while away from the country. I hope what I have learnt in the short space of time, in Italy, will help my team in the last three games of the league. The league in the team I was doing my assessment has finished with the players all going for their off season,” he said.

The Nsingizini Hotspurs player revealed that he was going to hear from his agent on the way forward after his short stint in Europe. “My agent will tell me what’s next for me and if there will be other offers from Italy or from the team that I was with.

Professional

“Pontedera is so far the most professional team I have been to and I will forever cherish the time I spent with them,” he added.

‘Suarez’ will be in line to make his return for his team this weekend when Nsingizini face dethroned champions Royal Leopard. The national Under-20 squad player’s amazing talent was spotted by Mamelodi Sundown’s scout Esrom Nyandoro during the Council of Southern Africa Football Association (COSAFA) Youth Championships which were staged in the country last year in October.
