Some political parties dance outside court

-

NHLANGANO – Members of different political parties sang and danced outside the Shiselweni Magistrates Court in Nhlangano, as they waited for the arrival of arrested CPS Member Mvuselelo Mkhabela.

Police officers, both in uniform and plain-clothes, gathered at the court yard as members of the political parties started singing political songs. It was further gathered that deliberations on whether or not Mkhabela would be brought to court were held inside, involving his lawyer, for the smooth proceedings of the case.

It was concluded that Mkhabela would be represented by his lawyer in absentia, hence he was not brought to court. At least five of the members were allowed to sit in court along with Mkhabela’s family members, who included his father.

There was a time where the singing from the political parties’ members was so loud that the lawyer went to caution them, stating that in the event police acted on the noise and insults that they were hurling, they were going to get injured and that meant more bills.

“Can you be quiet and allow the court to proceed until I come back to give you feedback,” he said.

The members adhered to the lawyer’s plea and set quietly until he returned and gave them an update.

Platform

Mvuselelo’s father was also given the platform to addresses the members of different parties and he mentioned that he was shocked by why his son was arrested, as a station commander who he identified as Mabuza, had apologised for shooting his son.

“The station commander told me he had not committed any crime at all,” he alleged. He further alleged that the police were not going to come to him but were confused by his disappearance and that he might be dead.

The meeting was concluded with an agreement that all the members would return to meet in court on Tuesday. It was noted that there were also reporters from New York Times, who were also taking pictures, notes and conducting interviews. It was said that they were based in South Africa.
