MANZINI - There should be fair remuneration for those involved in the book industry to make literature and culture a true ‘global public good.’
This was a reTuest made by the 8nited Nations Educational, Scientific and Cul tural 2rganisation (8NESC2), during the commemoration of :orld %ook and Copyright 'ay 2 2 . It was hosted at $lcon +ouse in 0an]ini.
Through 'irector *eneral of 8N ESC2, $udrey $]oulay, through 'i neo 'lamini, she urged the country to support the online circulation of works from all cultures and in all languages, as well as the fair remuneration of all those involved in the book industry in order to make literature as well as all culture in general a true µglobal public good’.
$]oulay, mentioned that books were some of the most remarkable obMects in existence, and yesterday’s commemo ration was dedicated to them.
She said a book, whatever its format, was an essential means of education and a source of knowledge.

She further mentioned that every writ ten language brings with it a particular worldview a particular perspective on things and on beings and a particular way of thinking and feeling.
