This directive was issued yesterday by Minister of Public Works and Transport Chief Ndlaluhlaza Ndwandwe when he announced the members of the Board.

The minister disclosed that the Board will be in office for a period not exceeding three years, effective from April 1, 2023. The announcement of the Board also gave way for the facilitation of the publication of the names of the appointed Board members in the government gazette extraordinary.

Chief Ndlaluhlaza further said the Board had another huge task of overseeing the Matsapha and Mpaka dry port expansion.

He said other projects that need the Board’s oversight were the expansion and regional integration of the railways between Eswatini, Maputo and the Republic of South Africa.

At the press conference, the minister also announced the new Board Chairperson in Nonhlanhla Shongwe. The minister said she was new to the Board, which had a number of returning members for continuity.

He said the new chairperson would be able to be neutral because she would be learning from the experienced members.

“It will be easier for her to execute her neutrality in her duties as a new chairperson,” said Chief Ndlaluhlaza.

The new Chairperson Shongwe, is currently working as Board Secretary at Tibiyo Taka Ngwane. Her credentials speak volumes as she worked at Swaziland Industrial Development Company (SIDC) as Company Legal Officer and worked for the Attorney General’s Office as Crown counsel.
