Lerato chats about awards preparations

-

JOHANNESBURG - Media personality Lerato Kganyago plans to pull out all the stops at the Metro FM Music Awards 2023 and is part of the team hoping to make the ceremony one for the books.

Speaking to TshisaLIVE, Kganyago said she would be holding nothing back on May 6 and has secured seven show-stopping outfits by local designers.

“I feel the pressure, but I’m honoured. I’m one of the people that live and breathe Metro FM. It is a brand I have effortlessly aligned myself with. I’m really excited,” LKG said.

Kganyago will host the awards, back after a hiatus, alongside Katlego Maboe at Mbombela Stadium. “Katlego has been one of the people in the industry that I’ve worshipped because of his work ethic and talent. I have been calling him the ‘comeback king’ because he went through a really tough time and he is back, he is still standing, still giving the industry his all - we don’t see a lot of people do that. It takes a lot of courage and strength to come back and enter the monster that is the entertainment industry and flourish again.” Kganyago’s longevity as a brand in the industry has been because of her consistency and striding at her own pace, she says.

“I’m extremely disciplined and respect the brand. I respect the listeners. I treat every show like a brand new show. It never becomes autonomous, I think that’s what has kept me with the brand for a long time,” she told TshisaLIVE. Apart from being a celebrated radio and TV personality, Kganyago runs a successful business called Flutter which sells sanitary pads at Clicks stores nationwide.
