MBABANE - Fans want their skilful player Banele ‘Pupu’ Sikhondze back.

However, Mbabane Swallows Head Coach Caleb Ngwenya is not bothered by what the fans want and is focused on his current crop of players.

The fans wrote banners which read, ‘We want Pupu back’, during Swallows’ game against Denver Sundowns on Saturday at the Prince of Wales Sports Ground. Swallows won 1-0, courtesy of Ayanda Gadlela’s goal. Interviewed after the game, Swallows number one fan Linda ‘Sthawula’ Tsela said it pained him that his favourite player was not getting game time. “I will talk with the player and hopefully the team will reconsider giving him a chance. I’m not happy; that boy is talented and we cannot watch while his career goes down the drain,” said Tsela.

Another fan, Minorah Hlophe said ‘Pupu’ was a good player.

“We want Pupu back. The coach must approach the player and make him see why it is important for him to be in the team,” said Hlophe. Meanwhile, Coach Ngwenya said he was only focused on the current crop of players.

“I am focused on the available players. I do not want to talk about players who are not here,” said Ngwenya. When asked to share a message to the fans regarding ‘Pupu’s situation, he said he did not see the banner which this reporter was talking about. “The players earned a hard fought victory and showed character.”
