Zakhele Dlamini scoops top CAA post

- BY MACHAWE FAKUDZE

MBABANE – AE President Zakhele Dlamini has been elected the Vice President of the Confederation of African Athletics (CAA).

Dlamini is the only candidate from the Southern Africa, who was elected for the five-member vice-presidency position. He was elected in an elective congress, which was held in Lusaka, Zambia from April 25 to 27, 2023. The news of Dlamini’s election was delivered by Athletics Association (AE) Communications Officer Victor ‘Mavikane’ Dlamini, who on behalf of the federation congratulated him for his new position.

Leader

‘Mavikane’ said Dlamini’s new post showed that as a federation and a country, they had a true leader who was capable of leading at continental level. “Congratulations are in order for the president and we are really proud of him as a federation; indeed he is a true leader,” he said.

He said Dlamini’s election into the vice-presidency of CAA would not only benefit him, but it would also profit the country at large. He further said even though the country was small, it was capable of unearthing leaders, who could lead organisations at continental level.

Meanwhile, Dlamini was recently elected the President of the Confederation of African Athletics Southern Region V (CAA-SR5). This transpired during an elective congress, which was held in Durban, South Africa in January this year.
